The Badenekayi Mela or Brinjal Mela held at Mysore turned out to be  a crowd puller and an opportunity for people to learn more about the numerous varieties of Brinjals grown in the state. It also served to create awareness about the threat that the Brinjal is now facing with the impending commercialisation of the BT Brinjal.

Brinjal festival is an attempt to generate awareness amongst food consumers and farmers, for the growing concerns related to food-safety and security because of the entry of Genetically Modified food.  We, as consumer often fail to exercise our basic right to have safe food.
