The Badenekayi Mela or Brinjal Mela held at Mysore turned out to be  a crowd puller and an opportunity for people to learn more about the numerous varieties of Brinjals grown in the state. It also served to create awareness about the threat that the Brinjal is now facing with the impending commercialisation of the BT Brinjal.
